Frequently Asked Questions

What type of file outputs do you provide?

We can provide a variety of 3D Point Cloud files, including e57, rcp, pcd and ptx, among others. Additionally, we can provide mesh files that will turn your point cloud into a 3D model.

We also provide hosting support for your project files, we manage the hosting and can provide a secure web-based application to view your 3D scan files.

How long does it take to get 3D scan data?

This depends on the size of the project, and the required output, but generally, the 3D scan data can be provided within a few business days. More advanced requests, including deviation analysis and interference checks may need more time. If you would like a specific timeline for your project, please reach out and we would be happy to help!

Is there any site prep required?

Not specifically, however, what the scanner can see, it will gather data on. If there are specific areas that you need high detail on, those areas should be cleared to ensure the best output data.

Is 3D Scanning safe?

The scanners we use are Class 1 lasers, which are considered safe for use under normal operating conditions. Class 1 lasers are categorized as low-risk, as their emitted power is below the threshold that could cause harm to the eyes or skin. This classification ensures that the device can be operated without specific safety measures related to laser exposure.

Is 3D Scanning safe for all material types?

Absolutely, 3D scanning is a non-contact and non-destructive process, making it safe for a variety of materials, including delicate and valuable items.
